I know, two weeks! I feel like all I did was blink and here we are two weeks since I posted last. But, that's a good thing, because it means I've been busy. Writing, and applying for jobs. Papers are looking almost like they are ready for submission. The University gave me permission to be a PI and I've applied for 5 tenure track positions. So, things are looking up and forward and I'm happy about that. My last few posts may have seemed a bit whiny, and I will admit they were, the politics of academic life were grating on my nerves, some people had said things they shouldn't have, and I was generally unhappy with the situation. Then I went away and bitched some of it out on the blog, met some new scientists, who treated me like a human and not a (insert whatever species you don't have any respect for here), and managed to remember why I was doing this in the first place and bamn, two weeks later, life is back on track and I'm ignoring all the poopyheads pretty efficiently. (saying poopheads helps too).
Ok, so knitting today. With crappy pictures because the good camera is at school and I'm at home. I have stuck to my last stated knitting intentions and I'm being faithful to the Thalia test knit (ravelry link). But it's soooooo hard to be faithful. It's a pretty small gauge and the ribbing was a pretty tedious stitch pattern. The first two inches were like, "yeah this is so cool", and then the last eight inches were "why am I still ribbing?". I topped out at a speed of three rounds per night, which is really slow progress. But, it looks so nice and I have high hopes for the finished product, so it isn't all bad. I divided for the arms earlier this week and the stockinette is flying by much quicker, and it helps that I love the yarn (ravelry) Here's a picture of the progress so far.
