So, I finally got up the courage to admit defeat and tell you all how crappy the phone interview was, and my good mental attitude about it and blah blah...
Next day, phone rings, "we'd like to invite you to campus for the next phase of interviewing".

"I feel I've learned a lot about the position, the company and your management style. I believe you've gotten a good sense of me, my skills and what I could bring to the table."
"If I weren't selected for this role, what might some of the reasons be?"
It seems harsh, but its a very powerful tool. It is an open ended question that doesn't put them on the defensive, and if they do come up with an answer it gives you a chance to address their concerns right then and their.
The book had lots of neat tricks like that...
