An Inspirational Pattern
Blog about a pattern or project which you aspire to.
I aspire to knit all kinds of things, so this was tough. There isn't an immediate pattern that comes to mind. For some inspiration I checked out my ravelry queue and favorites. My queue is 222 items long, and that's after I did a major trimming of the things I knew I would never knit a few months ago. Yikes!
I have two broad categories that I'd like to knit something in. A lace shawl. A real one with a complicated pattern. I have two in progress right now. One has been on the needles for three years and is just shy of the 50% mark. Once I started in November and I'm on row 88 of 167, but each row gets longer, so that's not the 50% mark yet. I can only knit lace in super quiet. So I only do it once a week, if that even, when hub goes to his fencing club. I aspire to be better at it than that so lace can be part of my regular knitting routine.
The second is a fairisle sweater. I don't have a specific pattern in mind, and I think I'd like to go traditional like this but could also be swayed to something more modern like Urban Mandarin. Either way, I think I'd like to steek it. I'd like to do it in sport weight or fingering weight yarn so that it's actually wearable. Given how long it took me to finish my endpapers, I'm not likely to undertake this anytime soon, but someday.
Right now, I aspire to finish the pyroclastics that I keep messing up!
Urban Mandarin is so gorgeous! I love those kinds of brocade-y, somewhat medieval-inspired patterns.
ReplyDeleteI also want to make lace knitting part of my regular knitting. And socks. And complicated colorwork. And linen/hemp yarn. And a bunch of other fibery fantasies.
